Can you tell me how to get....

...how to get to Sesame Street???

We're gearing up for this year's big vacation to...drum roll please....Pennsylvania!

We're going to spend two days next week at the one and only Sesame Place, complete with a Character Dinner! Doesn't that sound like the vacation of a lifetime? Honestly, it will probably be the best vacation I've ever been on just because my girls are totally going to FLIP OUT! I cannot wait to see the looks on their faces when they see all of their favorite friends. I can already hear Eden's squeal.

Let's just all PLEASE stay healthy. Eden made me very nervous this past week coming down with congestion and a cough. Luckily she seemed mostly better yesterday, and completely better today. I did have a moment of panic thinking about spending our vacation in the hospital rather than PA, but I think all is well.

I have been keeping extremely busy so far this summer, between doctor appointments, therapies, baby group, and the NICU Family Advisory Board.

Last fall, I joined this group at the hospital where H and E were born, and have really been enjoying myself. I am the chairperson for planning our annual NICU reunion which will be August 18th. I also recently completed a 4 week Parent-to-Parent training program. Through this program I will be able to connect with other families in the NICU, and hopefully act as a mentor or support person to them. I am really looking forward to that. I am also very excited about being chosen to represent the hospital and FAB at PreemieCon 2007 in Washington DC at the end of August. It should be really interesting... I am particularly looking forward to a presentation about long-term feeding difficulties in preemies. Especially after a day like today where they ate NEXT TO NOTHING!!!

You are going to have a great time at Sesame Place. It is a perfect place for little ones. And, since the 'rides' are geared for really little kiddos, there are many things that allow for parents to hold the kids, that should makes lots of things accessable to the girls.
Enjoy your vacation.

I had never heard of that place it sounds like lots of fun I am jealous, enjoy you all deserve. I must thank you for writing from time to time the difficulties with feeding. My son was born at 25 weeks and though we escaped most major problems thus far, feeding, reflux and dysphagia are what we deal with most. He is not on a feeding tube although they are threatening us with one now!!! He will be 2yrs old 7/7/07 and weighs 19lbs 5oz. So thanks again it helps knowing it is not just me. Tracy in HOT ARIZONA!!!

How exciting! My M would love Sesame Place. Maybe next summer for us. Take lots of pictures!

And, I think that I'm also going to be a parent advisor at our NICU. I'm a little excited and nervous!

Sesame Place is a blast...your girls will enjoy it, Billie. Be sure to take in Elmo's World live show and the parade, both were favorites of Brady's last summer. The character dinner is nice, too, especially if it is hot out because it is air conditioned (Same with Elmo's show). All the little one rides are made for mamas and daddies to ride on, too, so that should be of help to you. It really is a classy theme park. Your girls will probably like the water areas too.

Enjoy your time away....you're right, they are going to flip out.

Love, Kris

Fun, fun, fun! Enjoy your vacation and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed everyone stays healthy!

I always enjoy hearing about others volunteering at the NICU. The parent group at our NICU is called Parent-to-Parent too and has been around for about 20 years. I've been a volunteer for the past 3.5 years now and really enjoy it.

I went to the link for the PreemieCON and saw this:

There are rules and regulations to which any parent planning to bring children must adhere:

1) Children under 2 are free

2) Children 2 and up pay $65

3) Parents accompanied by children for the educational session will be admitted ONLY to parent educational sessions (no professional sessions)

4) Parents must be courteous of other attendees and remove any child from any function if they become a distraction. PreemieCON reserves the right to remove any distracting parents/children from all conference events without reimbursement

5) No children will be admitted to the Thursday night reception or Friday night dinner

6) Children must be accompanied by a parent at all times

7) No special equipment or arrangements will be provided by PreemieCON. All such needs must be provided by the parent.

As I see it, preemies with disabilities are not welcome.

I live about 30 minutes from Sesame Place so very cool. You guys are going to have a blast.

When you come to DC you will have to let me know my sister lives there and maybe we could meet up for a drink or something!

If I lived in the area, I'd go to Seseme Place just for the water rides. I LOVE water parks and it seems like they put alot of thought into this one and added some things the grownups will like as well as the kiddies. I bet your girls will like all the splash pools.

Sounds like fun! I'm sure the girls will love it.
I have been thinking about getting involved with our NICUs parent to parent program as well and now that I have the time with my new work schedule it is the right time.

I love that picture of the girls, they are so flipin' cute! Have a great time on your vacation. We just went on our first family vacation and it was great! When you're enjoying yourself you tend to forget about the fact that you have all that equipment to lug around. Have a great vacation !

I'm jealous! Have fun at Sesame Place. I remember having a blast there(well, the one that was in TX, but I'm sure it's the same) when I was a kid.
